Two colour screen print with pure magenta and pure cyan
This screen print is part of the Beautilism series. Inspired by the rise of brutalist architecture in Croydon, South London in the 1970's. From this period onward, Croydon underwent a major transformation, influenced by modernism and led by the controversial Le Corbusier, Croydon slowly became a concrete jungle.
I produced this series of prints by attempting to capture the beauty in these concrete buildings, finding and photographing them using medium format film from a Lomographic camera, exposing the imagery myself and then breaking the colours down into CMYK separations and finally screen printing them. This gives each print its own unique aesthetic.
